So, yesterday when I was leaving a Birthday party, another Mom coming in with her kids said in passing (as I was wrangling my two to the car), "Wow, you are a hardcore Mom". I wasn't sure what that meant. Did she mean that I am, ALL MOM? Did she mean that I am a NO FUNNY BUSINESS MOM? What did she mean? I have been thinking about it since yesterday and let me say, that since the husband is in PA visiting his Dad and Uncle, I have a lot of time to kill. I think I have pinned what she meant by Hardcore Mom!!
My Mothering Philosophy:
I am here to love my kids, but to teach them right from wrong.
I am here to love my kids, but not do everything for them, because after all, at some point, they will enter this BIG world by themselves!
I am here to love my kids, but even at 2 & 3, they are old enough to clear their plates and cups after meals. The girl at 3 has 2 jobs each day: set the table and let the dog up in the morning.
I am here to love my kids, but they are KIDS and they do not run this house. The adults here run the house and they follow the rules and guidelines we set so they are safe and kind to others.
I am here to love my kids, but Mom can't fix everything. I give kisses and hugs and try to fix booboo's, but sometimes, a point comes where it is time to get over a booboo and move on.
I am here to love my kids, but toys, clothes, movies, special treats, and always getting things is not a show of love. You can try to buy love, but it is a feeling and feelings CANNOT be bought. They are shown and earned!
I am here to love my kids, but I am not here to be their best friend. I am their Mother!
MOST OF ALL, I AM HERE TO LOVE MY KIDS!
Where it all started....
Well, it started many years ago at a company called RPS. The company name changed and so did mine in 2001. From there, the road led us to the ATL and our own business. I left the road to have babies, but it sure is hard to take the trucker out of a Momma!

Welcome 2011!
So, we made it thru peak with the business, thru Christmas with the kids and are entering into 2011. Where did 2010 go? I hope that 2011 brings peace and happiness to this Momma! The constant fights between the kids are enough to drive me crazy! He steals her toys she screams. She intentionally goes and plays with his favorite toy first and he screams! I guess it would be better if we could get out of the house, but winter makes it tough and I hate paying for my kids to play! Oh well....we will make it, one way or another!

The Boy
So, FINALLY, the boy is walking!!! Well, he actually went from a crawl to a run and he dances. 4 weeks of Physical Therapy and he's off! Now, I will never know if it was the PT or if it was just his time. He has also qualified for Speech Therapy and I am wondering if I should follow thru with that or just see if he eventually talks. He is VERY smart and tested out well above his age for understanding, but still has no words. Oh why, Oh why do kids have to make you worry so much!?!

Is it wrong??
My girl is turning 3 tomorrow. She wanted a pink cake and hotdogs. That is what she is getting. We aren't doing a party. She is 3....she won't remember. We didn't invite friends over or rent a place out. She is 3....she won't remember. We don't have big gifts, just a couple little things. She is 3....she won't remember. I keep telling myself that, but is it true or is it wrong?
A lot of my friends have had their kids take dance, play t-ball, are playing soccer, or take them to gymnastics. My kid can't focus on one thing or more than 15 minutes unless it is the TV. Is she really going to learn to dance or play ball with that attention span and at the age of 3? I would rather save that $$$ and buy her a car when she is 16 so she can drive herself to a JOB! Is it wrong??
I go to consignment sales and buy the kids clothes. I am not picky about names. If it is the right size and it still has life left in it, I buy it. My kids don't have nice clothes and play clothes. All of them are play clothes because that is what kids do.....play!! Is it wrong?
I HATE to pay for places to take my kids to play!! I don't mean the zoo or aquarium, but things like the jump houses. I pay taxes and think the park is an awesome place to go and have fun! It offers a change of scenery from our house, but doesn't cost me a red cent! I took the kids (with some friends and yes it was fun!) to a place to play a couple weeks back and paid $15.50 for my kids to play with some of the same toys they don't play with at home! I was pissed! Is it wrong?
Disclaimer: Any friends that read this and think I am being mean towards you....I am not. I am trying to justify things in my own mind. I am a Plain Jane kind of Mom trying to fit in with other Moms and I don't get things sometimes!

Why??
So, we go to play with some friends at the skating rink that has open rink bring your ride-on-toy day. They also have a climbing area. My boy decides to become adventerous and goes for it. He gets stuck and my fat ass has to climb thru the thing to get him. Then he thinks he wants to climb it again. Oh no....time to go. He's not ready to go! He screamed the whole way home and then 20 minutes more after that. I am going to have an afternoon glass of wine!!

OUCH!
I am on week 2 of trying to get my ass back in shape. Coming off the road to have babies killed me. I never should have let myself get so out of shape, but with 2 back to back babies and very little me time, it happened. It sure was nice when I actually got paid to workout! Delivering boxes can suck, no doubt, but that hour at aerobics is no fun either!! I put both kids in preschool with the intentions of getting myself and the house back in order. So far, I get to the gym, but then have ZERO motivation when I get home!! I only have an hour before I have to leave again to get the kids and it is just easier to not start a project. Maybe it will come! Until then, wine and Advil are my friends!!

The Week in Review
Well.....things always seems interesting around here!
We had a driver fall into a swimming pool on his way back to the truck. YES, that is right, he tripped and fell into a swimming pool in his uniform with his scanner in hand. Lost his glasses in the fall and then couldn't see to find them. Scanner is now slowly dying.....
We had our first no call no show on Friday. HR for Brown Dog better step up and write this stuff up. Oh wait....that's me!
The boy had his 2 assessments for his lack of walking and talking. He will be getting some physical therapy followed by a speech assessment. He has been W-sitting for so long it is just habit (never knew it was bad for him and there wasn't anything in the handbook that came with him at purchase to tell us any different). This has lead to weak inner thigh muscles and him supporting himself on the insides of his feet when he does stand. That does not make for a good base upon which to balance, so some shoe inserts will also be added in to help him along. I am a little upset about it. No on ever wants anything to be wrong with their kids and it just hurts me to think he is delayed in any way. He did test off the charts in some areas, so they say he is pretty smart, he has just hit a developmental glitch that has slowed his progress. I am sure that before long I will be sorry that is walking!!
The girl is driving me CRAZY with her favorite phrase: "Whatch ya doin' Momma." (She says it just like she is straight out of Brooklyn, NY!) I have no idea where it came from, but I guess it is her form of the usual kid's "Why?". Sometimes it is, "Whatch ya talkin' bout Momma." Anyway.....those phrases 100 times a day over and over and I need to do a couple shots before I have a glass of wine!
